HotLink Protection

Use the cPanel HotLink Protection module to prevent other websites from linking to image files on your website. Other sites will still be able to link to HTML pages on your site.

By default, Hotlink Protection is enabled on sites hosted by Family History Hosting. The proected file types are jpg, jpeg, gif, png, and bmp. This prevents other sites from stealing your bandwidth by linking directly to images stored on your site. You can disable Hotlink Protection by clicking the [Disable] button.

Hotlink Protection works by inspecting the URL of the page that access the file. You must explicitly allow specific domains—including your own domain—to access protected file types. cPanel attempts to add all sites it knows you own to the "safe" list, however you may need to add others.
